The Eastern Regional Service Board (ERSB) has been established by the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador to develop and implement modern waste management practices in the eastern region. On June 7, 2016 ERSB started operating a Waste Recovery Facility on Old Brigus Road in Whitbourne. The Facility will provide convenient and free drop off of bulk items for residents in the area including items such as; appliances, furniture, electronics, car and truck tires (with rims removed), construction and demolition debris, shingles. The Clarenville Transfer Station (CTS) is a brand new waste management facility that opened its doors to the public on January 2, 2016. The site handles municipal solid waste, commercial solid waste, residential bulk waste and recycling for transfer to a regional facility. The facility is an important step in protecting the environment, improving waste management processes in the region and reducing costs.
