Isthmus and Area
Three waste recovery facilities service the Isthmus area 1) on the former Sunnyside Landfill site, 2) on Old Brigus Road in Whitbourne and 3) at the Clarenville Transfer Station. The WRF sites accept bulk household waste such as appliances, furniture, mattresses, hot water tanks, electronics, metals, propane tanks, car and truck tires (rims removed), ATV and motorcycle tires, construction and demolition material, shingles, brush, etc. We will not accept anything that is recyclable or materials that decompose, including cardboard, clothing, food items, leaves, grass clippings, ash, and fishnets.
Hours of operation for the Sunnyside and Whitbourne Waste Recovery Facility are Tuesdays and Thursday 12 pm to 4 pm and Saturdays 8 am to 4 pm excluding holidays.(Please note Sunnyside Waste Recovery Facility will be closed from Monday, December 12, 2016 to Saturday, April 1, 2017).

Woodchips are available to the public at some of the sites for pick up free of charge – supply is limited and will vary by site. Please check with the Site Attendant for more information.
This site does not accept commercial material including materials from contractors or businesses. Trucks having any commercial signage will be refused entry.
The Eastern Regional Service Board is in the process of acquiring land in the Whitbourne area for the construction of a waste recovery facility. We anticipate this facility opening in 2015.

REMEMBRANCE DAY - SERVICE UPDATE
Remembrance Day - Service Update
Please be advised that our office will be closed on Monday November 13, 2017. The Waste RecoveryFacilities located in Old Perlican, Harbour Grace, Cavendish, Bay Bulls, Renews- Cappahayden, Fox Harbour, Whitbourne, Sunnyside and Clarenville (WRF and Transfer Station) will be closed on Saturday, November 11, 2017.
Please also note the following changes to solid waste curbside collection throughout the Eastern Region:
Carbonear and Bristol's Hope: Garbage collection will move ahead by one day
Clarenville and Areas: Garbagecollection will move ahead by one day.
Clarke's Beach and Port de Grave Areas: Garbage collection will move ahead by one day
Deer Park/Vineland Road/Salmonier Line: Garbage collection will move ahead by one day.
Marysvale, Colliers, Georgetown and Holyrood: There will be no change in garbage collection.
lsthmus and Area: There will be no change in garbage collection.
Long Harbour-Mount Arlington Heights: Garbage will move ahead by one day.
Southern Shore: Garbage collection will move ahead by one day.
Southwest Avalon: Garbage collection will move ahead by one day.
Trinity BaySouth and Trinity Bay Centre: Garbage collection will move ahead by one day.
Trinity Conception North: Garbage collection will move ahead by one day.

Brigus Junction, Middle Gull Pond, Hodgewater Line, Hodgewater Pond, Ocean Pond, Goulds Pond, Goulds Big Pond and Old Mans Pond: Garbage collection will move ahead by one day.
