Site Overview

A Waste Recovery Facility is located on the former Old Perlican incinerator site that accepts bulk household waste, such as appliances, furniture, mattresses, hot water tanks, electronics, metals, propane tanks, car and truck tires (rims removed), ATV and motorcycle tires, personal construction and demolition material, shingles, brush, etc. EWM will not accept anything that is recyclable or materials that decompose, including cardboard, clothing, food items, leaves, grass clippings, ash, or fish nets. 

Hours of Operation

Tuesday and Thursday, 12:00PM to 4:00PM, and Saturday, 8:00AM to 4:00PM, excluding holidays.

Other Information

This site is operated under contract by Coish’s Trucking and Excavating Ltd. Commercial waste is accepted at the site by the contractor for a fee which is posted on the entrance gate of the facility.  These fees are paid directly to Coish’s Trucking and Excavating Ltd.  A receipt will be provided for the payment and services.

Wood chips are available to the public at some of the sites for pick up (free of charge). Supply is limited and will vary by site. Please check with the local Site Attendant for more information.

Household Hazardous Waste Events

2020 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events

Eastern Regional Service Board encourages residents of the eastern region to gather their household hazardous waste (HHW) material in preparation for local HHW collection events occuring in September. Please note these HHW events do not accept waste from commercial operators.

Proper disposal of HHW will help prevent hazardous chemicals from products that are poisonous, corrosive, flammable or stored in pressurized containers from contaminating the soil, water, and atmosphere around us. For a list of items generally accepted at the HHW collection events, please click HERE.

The HHW drop off events will take place on September 19 and 26 (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) at the following locations respectively:

SEPTEMBER 19

-North Harbour (Placentia Bay) - Fire Hall

-Chance Cove -  Fire Hall

-Random West - Fire Hall

-Smith Sound - Fire Hall

-Bell Island (Wabana) - Fire Hall

-Whitbourne - Fire Hall

-Placentia - Fire Hall

SEPTEMBER 26

-Bay De Grave - Fire Hall

-Carbonear - Civic Center

-Ferryland - Fire Hall

The Houshold Hazardous Waste Facility at Robin Hood Bay is open to residents of the Eastern Region for HHW drop-off every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
